Creating Beauty with Power Tools and a Camera…
Each of my industrial fine art plates combines my photography with the effects of time and decay. It takes 2 to 3 months to age/rust each piece of steel and then another 8 to 12 hours to prep each panel and sand them down, removing the active rust, revealing the pitting and marks of time. Many pieces also bare the marks of other industrial objects that have been overlaid during that process.
Finding Art in Decay
A visual study of light and form, and it’s power to tell a story, evoke emotion, and reveal hidden beauty. Images printed on naturally rusted, worn, distressed, aged steel, industrial aluminum panels and then float mounted on stained wood with distressed bolts to build an emotional connection with the image, as though it was a part of the scene, and presented to the viewer as an artifact.
